Marketing Your Website
How you market your website will depend on your industry. Each industry
has certain things that should be considered. Usually we'll want
to use both online and offline techniques for your Portland Website
Marketing.
Offline Marketing (Yellow Pages, Ads, Brochures, Business Cards,
etc.)
A Company's Website
is the ideal marketing hub for most of your marketing efforts. For
example – a brochure can contain quite a bit of information.
But it can’t contain all the information your website has
to offer. No way…No how. So what do you do?
Simple - you put an intriguing little section in the brochure
that says for more
information on
this, this, or that. Please visit www.datasupplysolutions.com….They
can now find all the information they need. And if the web design
team and copywriter have done
their job - your
prospect can get a much broader view of who you are, how you
can help them, and why they need your products or services. From
there
you can hopefully capture contact information so you can follow-up
with them and hopefully in the future make the sale. But first
you have to build the relationship.
Can you see by that example how powerful your website is as an
extension of your brochure? This technique also works well
for Yellow Page ads, or any ad for that matter. You don’t have
much space for those ads (especially if you’re on a tight budget),
so you better make the most of it. Place your attention getting
headline, a brief intriguing message and then refer them to your
website for
all the information they could ever want. They’re
not going to pick up the phone the first time they see your ad but
they might
just visit your website – that is if you peek their interest
(hopefully you’re beginning to see how important the copywriting
is for all of your marketing efforts, if you don't get their interest
with the copy you're going to lose them).
Search Engine Marketing and Online Marketing
It’s been the buzz for I don’t know how long. Everyone wants to know how they can get their website ranked
high in the search engines.
I wish there was an easy answer but there isn’t. It
takes a lot of effort and focus to get a website ranked well in the
search engines. The days of tricking the Search Engines are
over.
The Search
Engines are onto the tricks used by many “so called professionals”.
Not only is tricking the Search Engines unethical but it’s
a potential disaster and could even get you banned from some of the
search engines (although not likely).
Now one thing I’d like to mention here is that the
structure of the website and the website copy are critical factors
in achieving
top rankings. What that means is that the designer and copywriter
for the site will play key rolls in achieving rankings, so they better
have at least a minimum understanding of how the Search Engines work.
